Contrasting Light
Contrasting Light
Originally created for a school project, this collection of photos utilizes contrasting colored lights in order to create a visually appealing sense of juxtaposition. It emphasizes the highlighted features of the subject while also creating a striking contrast with the shadowed areas. The interplay of light and shadow not only enhances the depth and texture of the subject, but also evokes a sense of drama and intrigue. The use of two distinct colors further intensifies the visual impact, drawing attention to the subject’s form and emphasizing the contrast between light and dark. This collection captures the dynamic relationship between color, light, and shadow, offering a fresh perspective on visual storytelling. Shot in a studio with a black backdrop, I utilized panel lights placed close to the subject in order to create a dramatic lighting contrast. The colored lighting was an effect added entirely in post, as well as editing was done to the original images to increase the contrast between the subject and the backdrop.
Four of a Kind
Four identical men sit around a poker table, each immersed in their own approach to the game. One confidently pushes forward a stack of chips, his face relaxed, while another clutches an "UNO" card with furrowed brows, clearly out of his depth. Across from him, a player discreetly peeks pulls an ace from under the table, suppressing excitement as to not draw attention to his exploits. Meanwhile, the fourth member, seemingly overwhelmed, flips through a book titled How to Play Poker, desperate for guidance. The scene is surreal yet humorous, as each "player" is, in reality, the same person—meticulously duplicated to create a multi-character composition. While the most prominent feature of this work is the replication of the subjects, I wanted to place focus on the complex interplay between the characters. The homogeneity of the subject is affectively used to take emphasis away from the individual while highlighting the story telling aspects. This image was shot in my living room using a timed camera, capturing each version of myself separately before being seamlessly blended in post-production using masking techniques.
Spain
In the summer of 2024, I had the pleasure of visiting Spain, where I set out to capture the country’s stunning architecture and vibrant culture. This collection showcases some of my favorite images from my time in Barcelona and Madrid, each reflecting the unique charm of these incredible cities. To add my own artistic touch, I made some edits in post, enhancing the beauty of these sights while preserving the essence of my experience
Denver Portraits
This collection of portraits captures the beauty and charisma of my girlfriend, who is effortlessly photogenic in every frame. Her expressions, natural grace, and presence make each shot come to life, telling a story beyond just the image itself. While she already shines in any setting, I added some creative touches in post to enhance the colors and bring out the vibrancy of each moment. The result is a series of portraits that not only highlight her features but also reflect the warmth and energy she brings into my life :)
LightSaber Portraits
This portrait series captures my friend and his lightsaber in the dark, with the glowing blade as the only source of light. The goal was to use its illumination to shape each shot, highlighting his stance and expression against the shadows. One of my favorite images features him swinging the lightsaber, with a slow shutter speed creating a stunning arc of light, turning the motion into a vivid, dynamic trail.
